Turn Your LinkedIn Profile Into a 24/7 Client Acquisition Engine
How I landed clients from five countries in just seven months without spending thousands on Ads.
You spend hours agonizing over your LinkedIn content, trying to go viral. But then you send all those hard-earned profile visitors to a page that converts absolutely no one. That is like paying for an expensive billboard that points people to an abandoned building.
Seven months ago, Marketing Rizz didn’t exist.
There were no client testimonials. No case studies. No large following. No established brand that people recognised.
Just an idea, years of marketing experience, and a belief that I could build something of my own.
Fast forward seven months.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients from Australia, the USA, England, New Zealand and Zambia. I’ve also had experts from more than eight countries join me on The Marketing Rizz Podcast, expanding both my network and my perspective.
People often ask me the same question.
“How did you find international clients so quickly?”
They usually expect me to talk about cold emails, LinkedIn algorithms or some secret lead generation tool.
The truth is much less exciting.
Before someone booked a discovery call…
Before they replied to my message…
Before they referred me to someone else…
They all did one thing.
They looked me up.
Some found one of my LinkedIn posts. Some found my Trustpilot reviews.
Others came across me through my podcast.
A few were referred by mutual connections.
Almost every one of them eventually landed on my LinkedIn profile.
That’s where they made their decision.
Not whether they liked me.
Whether they trusted me enough to start a conversation.
And that’s where I think most founders, consultants and coaches are getting it wrong.
They’re spending hours trying to create the perfect LinkedIn post while sending people to a profile that still looks like the resume they wrote five years ago.
It’s the equivalent of running paid ads to a website that nobody wants to buy from.
No matter how good your content is, people will always check your profile before they check your calendar.
Your LinkedIn profile isn’t a resume.
It’s your landing page.
And every section either builds confidence… or creates doubt.
The biggest mistake I see founders making
Founders love optimising for visibility.
More impressions.
More followers.
More comments.
More reach.
Visibility is important. But visibility without credibility is just noise.
I’ve seen founders with 50,000 followers struggle to generate business.
I’ve also met consultants with fewer than 2,000 followers who are booked months in advance.
The difference isn’t the algorithm.
It’s what happens after someone clicks your profile.
After speaking with founders across different industries, I’ve realised that every high-converting LinkedIn profile does one thing exceptionally well.
It builds trust in layers.
Not through clever copy.
Not through buzzwords.
Not through vanity metrics.
Through consistency.
I call this –
The Marketing Rizz Trust Framework
It’s made up of five layers.
Each one answers a different question in your prospect’s mind.
Miss one layer, and trust begins to disappear.
Layer 1: Clarity
“Do I immediately understand what this person does?”
If your visitor needs thirty seconds to work out who you help, you’ve already lost them.
Founders often try to appeal to everyone.
“We help businesses grow.”
“We create innovative solutions.”
“We empower organisations.”
Those statements sound professional.
They also say absolutely nothing.
Instead, answer four simple questions.
- Who do you help?
- What problem do you solve?
- What outcome do you create?
- Why should I trust you?
Your headline, banner and introduction should make those answers obvious within seconds.
Confused people don’t buy. Clear messaging converts
________
I have put my profile below that demonstrates how the 4 questions were answered –
Q – Who do you help?
A – Businesses & Thought Leaders
Q – What problem do you solve?
A – Revenue-based marketing
Q – What outcome do you create?
A – Build a personal brand that makes you the obvious choice in your industry
Q – Why should I trust you?
A – 13+ years of experience
Layer 2: Credibility
“Have they actually done this before?”
This is where most people make a surprising mistake.
They tell people they’re experts.
Instead of showing them.
Your profile should provide evidence before anyone asks for it. Real results –
- Client testimonials.
- Case studies.
- Podcast interviews.
- Media mentions.
- Recommendations.
- Speaking engagements.
When I was building Marketing Rizz, I made a conscious effort to document every meaningful win.
Not to impress people. To remove uncertainty.
Every piece of proof shortens the distance between curiosity and confidence.
Layer 3: LinkedIn Personality
“Do I want to work with this person?”
Business has become more personal than ever.
People don’t just buy services.
They buy people they enjoy working with.
One reason thought leadership works so well is because it allows prospects to understand how you think before they ever speak to you.
That’s exactly what happened with Marketing Rizz.
Many discovery calls started with a sentence like this.
“I’ve been reading your posts for a while.”
Or…
“I listened to your podcast.”
By the time we spoke, the relationship had already begun.
That’s the real power of content.
It builds familiarity before the first conversation.
Layer 4: Consistency
“Can I trust them tomorrow?”
One brilliant post won’t build authority. One polished profile won’t either. Trust compounds.
- Every valuable article.
- Every thoughtful comment.
- Every podcast episode.
- Every client success story.
- Every lesson shared.
They’re all small deposits into the same trust account.
Most people underestimate this because consistency doesn’t create overnight results.
It creates predictable opportunities. There’s a difference.
Layer 5: Action
“What’s the next step?”
This is where so many LinkedIn profiles quietly fail.
Someone is convinced.
They trust you.
They’re interested.
Then they don’t know what to do next.
- Should they send a message?
- Visit your website?
- Download something?
- Book a call?
- Follow you?
Every profile should have one primary objective.
For me, it’s simple.
Book a free consultation call with a case study
Everything else supports that goal.
When people are ready to take the next step, don’t make them guess.
Guide them.
LinkedIn Profile Optimization Checklist
Here are 20 Strategic Steps to Establish Authority & Drive Thought Leadership
THE FIRST IMPRESSION (VISUALS & HEADER)
- High-Contrast Headshot:
Use a clean, professional, high-resolution photo. Ensure it features good lighting, a friendly/accessible expression, and faces forward directly into the lens.
2. Branded Banner Image:
Ditch the default background. Use a custom graphic that visually highlights your industry, displays a key framework, showcases you speaking, or includes a single-sentence value proposition.
3. Outcome-Driven Headline:
Don’t just list your job title. Use a formula that highlights who you help, how you help them, and the specific credibility tokens to back it up (e.g., “Helping SaaS founders scale to $10M ARR | Ex-Google | Author”).
4. Clear Skills
Ensure your account settings highlight up to 5 highly relevant topics that instantly define your core content pillars to profile viewers and the backend ranking algorithm.
5. Professional Audio Intro:
Utilize the 10-second name pronunciation feature to provide a quick, warm, verbal elevator pitch of your expertise.
CREDIBILITY & CONVERSION (THE HOOK)
- Custom Call-to-Action (CTA) Link:
Place a custom link directly beneath your headline pointing to a high-value asset (e.g., a newsletter, booking page, portfolio, or lead magnet) with an action-oriented hyperlink title.
- The Featured Section Showcase:
Pin 2 to 5 of your highest-performing assets here. Include your most viral post, a deeply insightful case study, a notable media feature, or a CTA link to your primary business offer.
- The “Hook” in the About Section:
Ensure the first two lines of your About summary are highly compelling. Visitors should feel an intense curiosity to click “…see more” to discover how you solve their industry’s core problems.
- Narrative-Driven About Section:
Write your summary in the first person. Frame it as a cohesive narrative of your professional philosophy, major business milestones, and the unique data-driven insights you possess.
- Clear “How to Work with Me” Outro:
Conclude your About section with an explicit invitation detailing exactly who should reach out to you and the preferred channel to do so (e.g., a direct email or a booking link).
PROOF & AUTHORITY (THE BODY)
- Impact-Focused Experience Bullet Points:
In your job descriptions, don’t just list basic tasks. Use the X-Y-Z formula: “Accomplished [X], as measured by [Y], by doing [Z].” Prioritize concrete percentages and data metrics over generalizations.
- Keyword-Optimized Job Titles:
Add descriptive, niche-specific context to your formal titles so they map directly to what recruiters, partners, or potential clients actively look for (e.g., “Director of Growth (Performance Marketing & B2B SaaS)”)
13. Media Attachments in Experience:
Upload presentations, PDF frameworks, whitepapers, or direct links to high-profile projects under your specific job roles to serve as tangible proof of your strategic capabilities.
- Strategic Skills Selection:
Max out your skills section with target keywords that align with your thought leadership niche. Pin your top 3 most authoritative, high-value skills to the top of the visible block.
- Up-to-Date Licenses & Certifications:
Display recent, highly respected industry credentials that visually reinforce your current technical expertise and committed continuous knowledge base.
SOCIAL PROOF & DISCOVERABILITY (THE BACKEND)
- Proactive Recommendations:
Secure at least 3 to 5 recent recommendations from clients, cross-functional peers, or senior executives. Request testimonials that explicitly praise your strategic foresight and leadership quality.
- Tailored Public Profile URL:
Clean up your default LinkedIn URL string into a sleek, clean, searchable brand handle (e.g., linkedin.com/in/yourname) to look polished on presentations and external assets.
- “Open To” or “Providing Services” Settings:
Correctly configure your structural visibility indicators. If you are a consultant or founder, fully fill out the “Providing Services” module with your exact offerings to capture organic search traffic.
- Strategic Public Visibility Settings:
Ensure your global profile visibility settings are completely turned “On”, allowing off-platform search engines like Google to index your public profile, bio, and articles seamlessly.
- Active Contribution Signals:
Keep your profile’s “Activity” section vibrant. Post original insights, share breakdowns, or leave heavy, high-value, essay-style comments on other industry leaders’ threads at least 3 times a week.
Content gets the attention
Trust gets the client.
One of the biggest myths on LinkedIn is that more visibility automatically creates more business.
It doesn’t.
Visibility creates opportunities.
Trust converts those opportunities into revenue.
That’s why two founders can receive exactly the same number of profile visits and achieve completely different outcomes.
- One collects impressions.
- The other collects clients.
The difference isn’t reach.
It’s trust.
My biggest lesson after seven months
Building Marketing Rizz has taught me something I wish I’d understood years ago.
The best marketing doesn’t convince people.
It reassures them.
Your LinkedIn profile shouldn’t feel like an advertisement.
It should feel like the logical conclusion someone reaches after thinking,
“This is exactly the person I’ve been looking for.”
If your profile creates that feeling, sales become easier.
- Discovery calls become warmer.
- Referrals become more frequent.
- Content becomes more effective.
- Everything starts working together.
That’s exactly how marketing should work.
Final Thoughts
If you’re a founder, consultant or coach, here’s my challenge for you.
Stop looking at your LinkedIn profile as something you update every few months.
Start treating it like your highest-performing sales asset.
Because long before someone books a discovery call…
Long before they become a client…
Long before they recommend you to someone else…
They’ll probably do exactly what your last prospect did.
They’ll look you up.
The only question is:
Will they leave convinced, or will they leave confused?
If you’re not sure, I’d be happy to help.
